Choose from five sizes, 45mm x 3.5mm to 80mm x 8.0mm, in packs of 2, 5, 8, 10, 50, 100, 150 or 250.

The zinc coating on these hook screws is a bright zinc plating (BZP) finish: a sacrificial layer that corrodes preferentially in place of the steel beneath it. This is the mechanism that gives zinc-plated fixings their corrosion resistance, rather than the coating simply acting as a barrier, and it is what makes BZP sound for general indoor and outdoor use. Underneath, durable carbon steel gives long-lasting and reliable fastening.

The wood screw thread also works with standard wall plugs, so the same hook can be used in masonry, brick or block walls once a plug is fitted, giving one product that covers both timber and masonry fixing jobs.

The range runs across five sizes, from a lighter 45mm x 3.5mm hook up to an 80mm x 8.0mm hook. As length and thread diameter increase together through the range, the smaller sizes are the natural choice for lighter items and the larger sizes for bulkier or heavier ones, so the right hook can be matched to the job rather than over- or under-specifying a single size for everything.

Key Features

Easy installation: the sharp, self-tapping wood screw thread drives directly into timber by hand, without the need for tools or pre-drilling in most softwoods

Open C-shaped hook: hang items at the height you need and lift them off again in a moment

Bright zinc-plated (BZP) steel, giving sacrificial corrosion protection suited to general indoor and outdoor use

Durable carbon steel for long-lasting, reliable fastening

Compatible with standard wall plugs, so the same hook can also be fixed into masonry, brick or block once a plug is fitted

Supplied across five sizes, from 45mm x 3.5mm up to 80mm x 8.0mm, to match lighter items through to heavier hanging loads

Simple installation by hand, or with a screwdriver passed through the hook for extra leverage: no specialist tools needed for timber fixing

Self-tapping thread removes the need for pre-drilling on multi-hook jobs such as cable runs or trellis fixing, saving time over standard screws that need a pilot hole

One hook design works across both timber and masonry substrates, reducing the need to stock two different fixings for the same job

Packs of 2, 5, 8, 10, 50, 100, 150 or 250 hooks, from a single job to a long run of fixings

Specification

Material

Carbon steel, bright zinc-plated (BZP)

Thread Type

Wood thread (self-tapping point)

Masonry Fixing

Compatible with standard wall plugs

Size Range

45mm x 3.5mm to 80mm x 8.0mm

Pack Sizes

2, 5, 8, 10, 50, 100, 150 or 250 hooks

Size (L x d)

Overall length (L)

Thread diameter (d)

Thread length (Lg)

Hook opening (E)

45mm x 3.5mm

45mm

3.5mm

27mm

8mm

65mm x 4.0mm

65mm

4.0mm

35mm

12mm

70mm x 5.0mm

70mm

5.0mm

30mm

17mm

80mm x 6.0mm

80mm

6.0mm

35mm

18mm

80mm x 8.0mm

80mm

8.0mm

48mm

-

Typical Applications

These cup hooks suit anywhere a load needs to hang from an overhead or vertical timber or masonry surface. As a general guide, the smaller 45mm x 3.5mm and 65mm x 4.0mm hooks suit lighter jobs such as ceiling light fixtures, decorations or cable runs, while the larger 70mm x 5.0mm, 80mm x 6.0mm and 80mm x 8.0mm hooks suit bulkier or heavier items such as hanging baskets or tools.

Installation Guidance

Into timber: turn the screw hook in by hand, or with a screwdriver passed through the hook for extra leverage. The wood thread is self-tapping, so it will drive in without a pilot hole in most softwoods. In hardwood, or when fixing close to the edge of a batten or board, drill a small pilot hole first to reduce the risk of splitting the timber.

Into masonry: drill a hole and fit a wall plug sized to the hook's thread diameter before driving the hook in. The wall plug grips the masonry and gives the thread something to bite into.

In both cases, drive the hook in until the shank seats fully against the surface, so the hook hangs true and takes the load along the full length of the thread rather than just the tip. When fitting several hooks to support a cable run, festoon of lights or a length of trellis, space them evenly along the run so the load is shared and nothing sags between fixings.

Common Questions

Do I need tools to fit them?
No. The wood screw thread allows quick and easy installation by hand, without the need for tools.
