premium-pvc-coated-galvanised-steel-wire-rope-cable
Premium PVC Coated Galvanised Steel Wire Rope Cable

Galvanised steel wire rope with a PVC outer coating, combining the strength of a steel cable core with a protective, non-abrasive plastic outer layer. It's built as a 6×7 FC (fibre core) construction to DIN 3055 - six strands of wire laid around a flexible fibre core - and is supplied across five diameters, from 3mm (0.12") up to 8mm (0.31"), in cut lengths from 1m up to 100m to suit anything from a single garden repair to a full continuous run. It's flexible, weatherproof and corrosion-resistant by design.

The fibre-core construction gives flexibility and easier handling, so this rope coils and routes around posts and fixings more readily than a stiffer steel-cored cable of the same diameter. Before coating, the steel core itself is galvanised for corrosion resistance, and the PVC outer layer then adds a further weatherproof barrier on top of that, along with a smoother, more comfortable handling surface than bare wire rope. The PVC layer also stops the cable scratching or marking any surface it rests against or is wrapped around, which matters as much for a washing line as it does for a garden feature in view of the house.

Each diameter is simply the steel core plus its PVC layer, and the two scale together as the rope gets larger: the 3mm, 4mm and 5mm ropes are all built on a 1mm PVC layer over a progressively thicker core, while the 6mm and 8mm ropes step up to a 2mm PVC layer over a thicker core again - so the larger the diameter, the thicker both the core and the coating, and the higher the working load the rope carries.

Key Features

Galvanised steel wire core for corrosion resistance, with a PVC layer coated on afterwards for extra weather protection

6×7 FC (fibre core) construction to DIN 3055, built for flexibility and easier handling

PVC coating gives a smoother, non-abrasive handling surface than bare wire rope and protects any surface the cable rests against or is wrapped around from scratching

Five diameters available, from 3mm (0.12") up to 8mm (0.31"), so the rope can be matched to the size and weight of the job

Larger diameters use both a thicker steel core and a thicker PVC layer, for proportionally higher working loads

Supplied in cut lengths from 1m (3.3ft) up to 100m (328ft), covering everything from a short repair to a full reel-length run

Flexible and weatherproof, with corrosion resistance built in from the galvanised core outwards

Specification

The steel core diameter and PVC coating thickness that make up each overall rope diameter:

Overall Diameter

Steel Core

PVC Coating

3mm (0.12")

2mm (0.08")

1mm (0.04")

4mm (0.16")

3mm (0.12")

1mm (0.04")

5mm (0.20")

4mm (0.16")

1mm (0.04")

6mm (0.24")

4mm (0.16")

2mm (0.08")

8mm (0.31")

6mm (0.24")

2mm (0.08")

Core: Galvanised steel wire rope, 6×7 FC construction (DIN 3055)

Outer layer: PVC coating

Available cut lengths:

Length (metric)

Length (imperial)

1m

3.3ft

3m

9.8ft

5m

16.4ft

10m

32.8ft

30m

98.4ft

50m

164ft

75m

246ft

100m

328ft

Typical Applications

The combination of a flexible fibre-core rope and a weatherproof, non-abrasive PVC coating suits this cable to a wide range of outdoor and general-purpose jobs:

Clotheslines and garden washing lines, where the PVC coating keeps washing clear of bare wire and copes with permanent outdoor exposure

Securing and tying down loads for transport, storage or general site use

Garden and outdoor rigging -
