Overview
A2 stainless steel threaded rod made to DIN 976, fully threaded along its entire 1 metre length with a standard right-hand ISO metric thread. Because the thread runs continuously from end to end rather than being confined to short lengths at each tip, a nut can be started and run down from either end, or fixed and locked at any point along the rod - making it a genuinely flexible stud/studding bar rather than a fixed-length stud bolt.
It's available across a wide size range, from the fine M2 thread used in small instrument, electronics and precision assembly work, right up to the heavy M24 thread used for structural and load-bearing connections - so whichever end of that range a job calls for, the same fully-threaded, cut-to-length format applies.
DIN 976 is the modern, tighter-tolerance successor to the older DIN 975 threaded rod standard, and the two designations are still commonly quoted together in the trade for this type of product, so it may also be listed elsewhere as DIN 975/976 studding. Manufactured in A2 austenitic stainless steel, it combines good general corrosion resistance with the strength needed for structural tie rods, suspended fixings and general fabrication work, without the surface rust that a plain or zinc-plated rod would eventually show.
Because it is supplied fully threaded rather than threaded at each end only, the rod can be cut down to any shorter length on site with a hacksaw or angle grinder and will still take a nut cleanly anywhere along the cut length - there's no need to work around a fixed unthreaded section in the middle, and no offcut is wasted thread.
Key Features
- A2 stainless steel construction resists surface rust and corrosion far better than plain or zinc-plated steel rod
- Manufactured to DIN 976, the modern, tighter-tolerance successor to the DIN 975 threaded rod standard
- Fully threaded along the entire 1 metre length, so a nut can be started and run down from either end
- Standard right-hand ISO metric thread, compatible with ordinary metric nuts, washers and coupling nuts
- Can be cut to any shorter length on site with a hacksaw or angle grinder and will still take a nut anywhere along the cut
- Supplied as a single 1m length rather than a fixed-length stud bolt, giving full control over the finished length
- Spans a full size range from M2 up to M24, each with its correct ISO metric thread pitch, covering everything from light precision work to heavy structural connections

Typical Applications
- Construction and architectural framework - tie rods, hanger rods and general structural fixing where a stainless finish is specified
- Industrial machinery manufacturing - mounting studs, frame tie rods and equipment bases
- Automotive assembly - general fixing and mounting work during vehicle build and fit-out
- General DIY and home repair - anywhere a length of threaded bar needs to be cut to size and used with standard metric nuts
Installation Guidance
Cut the rod to the length you need with a hacksaw or angle grinder, then deburr the cut end with a file so a nut runs on cleanly rather than snagging on a raised edge. A useful trade tip when cutting threaded rod: run a nut up past the cutting point before you cut, then wind it back off once the cut is made - this re-forms any thread that gets slightly deformed by the cutting action, so a fresh nut starts easily on the newly cut end.
Because this rod is fully threaded rather than threaded only at each end, it can be positioned and fixed at any point along its length rather than only at the tips - useful where the fixing point needs to sit mid-span rather than at an end. Where a rod needs to be joined to another length, use a coupling nut matched to the M-size in use, and where vibration is likely, a second nut run up and locked against the first (a jam nut) will help stop the fixing working loose over time. To keep the full benefit of the stainless finish, pair the rod with A2 stainless nuts and washers rather than plain or zinc-plated ones - mixing stainless fasteners with ordinary steel nuts can lead to the steel components corroding at the joint, and over time makes nuts harder to remove.
