Overview
Yellow galvanised steel L-shaped fence bracket, 30×38×30mm (approx. 1.18″×1.50″×1.18″), for fixing fence panels, trellis, screens and gravel boards to timber garden posts at a right angle.
The L-shaped profile is the bracket's defining feature: one face fixes flush against the post, the other fixes flush against the panel, trellis or gravel board, so the two timber components meet at a true right angle without any need to notch or rebate either piece of timber. That matters because notching a post to house a panel means cutting away some of the timber's cross-section; fixing the joint externally with a bracket avoids removing any timber from the post at all, while still giving a neat, square, flush joint.
Pressed from 2mm gauge steel, the bracket is finished in a yellow passivated galvanic zinc coating, which gives good rust resistance for outdoor use - so the bracket keeps working, and keeps its colour blending in against timber tones, for years, rather than staining the timber with rust runs the way an untreated bracket would. Because the zinc coating is the sacrificial layer protecting the steel underneath, the bracket goes on resisting corrosion even where the surface picks up light scuffs during fitting, rather than rusting through at the first scratch.
As a guide, a typical fence post-to-panel joint uses two brackets, one per side, for a standard domestic fence - more for taller or heavier panels.
Key Features
- Yellow galvanic zinc, passivated finish gives good rust resistance for outdoor, all-weather use
- L-shaped, right-angle profile fixes panel and post flush, face-to-face, with no notching or rebating of the timber required
- 2mm gauge pressed steel construction gives a solid, rigid fixing point
- Compact 30×38×30mm (1.18″×1.50″×1.18″) footprint suits standard fence post and panel timber sections without needing oversized fixings
- Yellow-toned finish blends in against typical timber post and panel colouring rather than standing out like a bare or bright metal fixing
- Versatile enough to fix fence panels, trellis toppers, screening panels and gravel boards using the same bracket
- Keeps the post's timber intact, since the joint is made externally rather than by cutting a notch into it
- Designed to be used in pairs per joint (one bracket per side of the post), with more brackets added for taller or heavier panels

Typical Applications
Because the bracket does its job with two flat, right-angled faces rather than a shaped or dedicated fitting, it works across most of the timber-to-timber joints found in a typical garden fence run:
- Fixing standard fence panels - closeboard, panel or lattice-top - to timber posts at a right angle
- Attaching trellis or screening panels above or alongside existing panel fencing, where the same square joint is needed higher up the post
- Securing gravel boards at the base of a fence run, holding the board flush to the post so it keeps the panel above clear of ground contact and rising damp
- General garden fencing assembly and post-to-panel joints wherever a square, flush timber-to-timber fixing is needed rather than a notched one
- Repairing or replacing a damaged panel-to-post joint on an existing timber fence without needing to cut a new notch into the post
- Small garden structures built from sawn timber sections - screens, planters or storage enclosures - wherever two timber faces need joining squarely
Because the joint relies on two flat faces meeting the post and panel squarely, these brackets suit standard sawn timber posts and panels. For a typical domestic fence height, fitting one bracket to each side of the post at every panel joint is usually sufficient, with an extra pair added lower or higher up the post for taller or heavier panels, or on more exposed, windy pitches where the joint takes more load.
Installation Guidance
Hold the bracket in the internal corner formed by the post and the panel or gravel board, with each face pulled flush against its respective timber surface and the bracket square to the joint before fixing - a bracket fixed slightly out of square will pull the panel out of line with the post. Fix through the bracket into both the post and the panel using screws suited to the timber.
Because the bracket itself is galvanised for corrosion resistance, it's worth using a similarly weather-resistant screw, so the fixing doesn't become the weak point that lets rust take hold and streak the timber even though the bracket around it is protected. Fit a matching bracket on the opposite side of the post for a balanced, evenly loaded joint rather than fixing from one side only, and add further brackets further up or down the joint for taller or heavier panels rather than relying on a single pair to carry the full load.
