Red Steel Eye Hook with Safety Catch

This heavy-duty red steel eye hook combines a forged carbon steel body with an integrated spring-loaded safety catch, giving you a secure attachment point for lifting, rigging, load-securing and general fastening tasks. The catch closes automatically over the hook's mouth and has to be depressed to release a sling, chain or strap, so it resists accidental opening while the hook is under tension.

Each size is manufactured to the maker's own internal engineering specification, with mechanical properties and Safe Working Load (WLL) figures checked and signed off by their quality control department. We have not been able to verify third-party certification to a specific harmonised lifting-hardware standard (such as a DIN or EN hook standard) for this particular product, so no such standard is quoted here – only the working load figures we have been able to confirm directly with the manufacturer.

The hook itself is forged from carbon steel for strength and resilience, then finished in a vibrant red paint coating. Besides making the hook easy to spot on site or in a rigging store, the paint layer also acts as a corrosion barrier over the bare steel, which is useful outdoors, in transport yards or in damp environments. A plain zinc-plated (grey) version of the same hook exists in the manufacturer's range, but this listing is specifically for the red painted version.

DIYUK stocks this eye hook in seven genuine Safe Working Load (WLL) sizes, from 250kg (551lb, 0.25 long tons) up to 5000kg (11,023lb, roughly 4.92 long tons). Every WLL figure listed here has been checked directly against the manufacturer's own published rated-load specification for this hook design – none of the numbers have simply been carried over from an old listing unverified. As with any lifting or rigging component, always choose a hook rated comfortably above your actual working load, apply an appropriate safety factor, and inspect the hook and its safety catch before each use.

Key Features

• Forged carbon steel body for strength and long-term durability
• Integrated spring-loaded safety catch that closes automatically and must be depressed to release a sling, chain or strap – resists accidental opening while the hook is under tension
• Vibrant red painted finish that's easy to spot on site and doubles as a corrosion-resistant barrier over the bare steel, useful outdoors and in damp environments
• Seven genuine Safe Working Load (WLL) sizes, from 250kg (551lb) up to 5000kg (11,023lb, roughly 4.92 long tons)
• Every WLL figure checked directly against the manufacturer's own published rated-load specification, not carried over unverified from an old listing
• Latch opens with light thumb pressure and springs back to the closed position as soon as it's released, so loads can be connected and disconnected quickly even with gloves on
• Suited to lifting, rigging, load-securing, transport/logistics and rigging/rescue attachment applications
• All seven sizes held in stock in our UK warehouse for fast dispatch

Specification

Unit weight shown is per hook. Imperial figures are approximate conversions of the metric ratings.

Typical Applications

This style of eye hook, as set out by the manufacturer, is intended as a load-bearing rigging component rather than a decorative fitting, so it should be selected, used and maintained accordingly. Typical uses include:

• Securing heavy structural elements and materials on construction and groundworks sites
• Fastening and restraining loads during transport, haulage and general logistics work
• Acting as a secure attachment point within rigging assemblies and rescue or recovery systems
• Lighter-duty securing jobs at the 250kg–750kg end of the range, scaling up to heavy structural lifting work at the 3000kg–5000kg end

Whatever the application, always choose a hook rated comfortably above your actual working load, apply an appropriate safety factor, and inspect the hook body and its safety catch before each use – the same operating principle applies across the whole size range, so the guidance above holds whether you're securing a 250kg fixture or a 5000kg structural load.

All seven sizes are held in stock in our UK warehouse, so whichever Safe Working Load you need – from the 250kg hook for lighter securing jobs through to the 5000kg hook for heavy structural lifting work – you're getting a hook whose rated capacity has been verified rather than assumed.
