Multi-Tiered Floating Wall Shelves - Solid Wood & Black Steel Frame
20% off applied
Overview
A three-tier floating wall shelf combining solid wood shelves with a painted black steel frame, built around a sturdy central steel beam that carries the full run of shelving and is visually offset by slender supporting steel rods rising to each tier. The steel beam and rods do the structural work while the wood shelves themselves appear to float clear of the wall, giving the unit the light, open look associated with modern floating shelving rather than a boxed-in bookcase.
The frame and support rods are finished in a durable black painted coating, giving a crisp, contemporary look that suits both modern and rustic interiors. Set against the black steelwork, the three solid pine wood shelves narrow progressively from the widest tier at the bottom to the narrowest at the top, creating a naturally tiered, pyramid-style display that draws the eye upward and works well for grouping items by size.
Because each tier is carried on its own slender support rod rather than sitting inside a boxed frame, there are open gaps between the shelves that let wall colour and light show through, rather than blocking it as a solid-sided bookcase would. This open construction is characteristic of the floating shelf format the unit belongs to: everything fixes back to a single rear beam, so there are no legs, brackets or side panels visible below or beside any of the three tiers, and each wood shelf reads as if it is floating directly off the wall.
Key Features
- Solid pine wood shelving across all three tiers, paired with a black painted steel frame and support rods for a durable, contemporary finish
- Sturdy central steel beam carries the shelf assembly, with slender steel rods rising to each tier for visible, minimal-looking support
- Progressive three-tier design – widest shelf at the base narrowing to the smallest at the top – for a naturally tiered display
- Compact wall-mounted footprint: 630mm (24.8in) wide, 655mm (25.8in) high and projecting just 165mm (6.5in) from the wall
- Lightweight overall unit at 2.4kg (5.3lb), keeping wall loading modest before any items are placed on it
- Wall-fixing points run along the rear steel beam so the whole three-tier assembly mounts and is fixed as one unit
- Durable black painted coating on all steel components complements both natural wood tones and painted or exposed-brick walls
- Open, floating-shelf construction with no visible legs, brackets or side panels, so light and wall colour show through between tiers

Typical Applications
- Living rooms and lounges – grouping books, framed photographs and ornaments across the three tiers for a gallery-style display wall
- Hallways and entryways – a slim, 165mm-projection shelf that adds display space without narrowing a passage
- Bedrooms and home offices – a compact spot for house plants, small storage boxes or reference books within easy reach of a desk
- Open-plan or loft-style interiors – the exposed black steel frame and progressively narrowing wood tiers suit spaces where a visible support structure is preferred over a closed cabinet or box shelf
- Layered plant displays – the narrowing tiers naturally suit grouping pots of different sizes, largest at the base and smallest at the top, so a display can step down in scale from bottom to top
- Small home libraries or reading corners – the three tiers give enough separation to sort books by size or subject rather than stacking everything on one flat run of shelving
- Mixed decor schemes – the black-steel-and-wood combination reads as equally at home against painted walls in a modern interior or exposed brick and timber in a more rustic setting
- Feature walls in smaller rooms – at 630mm wide and projecting only 165mm from the wall, the unit adds tiered display space without demanding the footprint of a freestanding bookcase
Installation Guidance
The steel frame carries its wall-fixing points along the rear beam, so the unit mounts and is fixed to the wall as a single assembly rather than as three separate shelves. Before fixing, hold the frame against the wall (or mark through the rear beam's fixing points) and use a spirit level to check the beam is level, since any lean in the rear beam will be carried through to all three tiers once the wood shelves and rods are in place. Mark and prepare the fixing points before lifting the full assembly into position.
Because safe load capacity depends heavily on the wall construction behind it, always choose fixings suited to your wall type:
- Masonry walls (brick or block) – standard screws and wall plugs suited to the wall-fixing points provided
- Stud and plasterboard walls – suitable toggle or cavity fixings rated for the board thickness, fixed into a stud wherever possible
Whichever fixing method is used, never exceed its safe working load, and distribute heavier items evenly across the three tiers rather than concentrating weight on a single shelf – this keeps the load on the central beam and support rods balanced and reduces strain on the wall fixings. Once fitted, periodically check that the fixings remain secure, particularly if the shelves are carrying heavier items such as books or larger plant pots.
