Overview

Adjustable metal post support bracket that clamps timber posts from 0-200mm (0-7.9in) across, letting a single fitting take a wide range of sawn post sizes instead of needing a separate fixed-socket bracket sized to one dimension. Rather than a closed socket that only fits one post width, the bracket uses an open adjustable jaw that closes down around the timber and is drawn tight with its own fixing screws, so the same bracket adapts to different post sections on site rather than dictating the post size you have to buy.

The bracket bolts or screws straight onto a concrete base, slab or masonry, so a fence, pergola, carport or shed post can be fixed without digging a hole or bedding the post in wet concrete. Standing the post on the bracket rather than setting it into the ground or in concrete also keeps the timber end clear of standing water, reducing the ground-level rot that is the most common failure point on a buried post. It is pressed from 4.0mm (0.16in) S235 structural steel and hot-dip galvanised with a bright silver zinc coating for all-round corrosion resistance in permanent outdoor use.

Key Features

  • Continuously adjustable 0-200mm (0-7.9in) clamp: one bracket covers a wide range of sawn timber cross-sections rather than being limited to a single fixed post size.
  • 4.0mm (0.16in) S235 structural steel: a structural-grade steel pressing for a rigid, load-bearing base plate and jaw.
  • Hot-dip galvanised, bright silver zinc finish: all-round corrosion resistance for a bracket that stays outdoors permanently.
  • Open adjustable jaw, not a closed socket: the jaw closes around the post and locks with its own fixing screws, adapting to the timber in front of you rather than fixing you to one post size.
  • No digging or wet concrete needed: fixes directly to an existing concrete footing, paving slab or masonry base with bolts or anchors.
  • Keeps timber clear of the ground: standing the post on the bracket rather than bedding it in soil or concrete avoids the standing water that drives ground-level rot.
  • 136mm (5.35in) overall height, approx. 1.35kg (2.98lb): compact and substantial enough to give a stable base without an oversized connection.
  • Full fixing route specified: Ø10mm (0.39in) coach/wood screws to the timber post, M10 bolts or M10 concrete anchors to the base.

Typical Applications

  • Replacing a rotten fence post base without breaking out the existing concrete footing.
  • Bolting new fence, pergola, carport, gazebo or garden shed posts onto a slab or existing concrete footing.
  • Decking post supports, where the frame needs a solid, ground-clear fixing point on a paved or concrete base.
  • General timber-to-concrete or timber-to-masonry fixing wherever the post needs to be kept clear of standing water and ground-level rot.
  • Jobs with mixed or irregular sawn timber sections, where the 0-200mm (0-7.9in) adjustable range lets one bracket be used across a range of post sizes rather than stocking several fixed-socket brackets for each dimension.
  • Sheds, outbuildings and other free-standing timber structures that need to be anchored to an existing slab or hardstanding rather than set into the ground.

Installation Guidance

  1. Mark and drill the fixing points on the concrete footing, paving slab or masonry base.
  2. Bolt the base plate down using M10 bolts or M10 concrete anchors suited to the base material.
  3. Stand the timber post in the adjustable jaw and close the jaw around the post to match its actual cross-section; the grip depends on the jaw closing evenly onto the timber, so avoid leaving it only partially clamped.
  4. Drive the Ø10mm (0.39in) coach/wood screws through the side of the jaw into the timber to lock the post in place.
  5. Check the post for plumb in both directions before final tightening, since the base plate fixing sets the post's final position.

The bracket is CE marked under a European Technical Assessment for vertical loads and for horizontal loads acting parallel to the fixing bolts.
