Angle Bracket 2.5mm Heavy Duty Galvanised Steel Corner Brace

Overview
Heavy duty galvanised steel angle bracket with a reinforced pressed rib, made for structural connections in load-bearing timber construction. Where a standard flat angle bracket relies on the fixings alone to hold a joint square under load, the pressed rib running across the corner of this bracket adds genuine rigidity to the bracket itself, helping it resist flex and rotational movement as the joint is loaded - the kind of movement that works fixings loose over time in a flat, unreinforced bracket. It's designed for timber-to-timber, timber-to-concrete or timber-to-steel 90° connections, so the same bracket range covers a post landing on a concrete footing just as well as two timber members meeting at a corner.
The bracket is galvanised in DX51D + Z275 coating for long-term corrosion resistance outdoors, and carries a Fire reaction class of A1 (non-combustible). Connection strength is CE marked under a European Technical Assessment for four of its five sizes, with rated figures ranging from 19.6 kN up to 35.2 kN depending on size; see the certified table below for the full breakdown by size. It's supplied in five sizes, from the compact 70×70×55mm up to the 150×150×65mm heavy-duty option, at a consistent 2.5mm steel thickness throughout the range, so the bracket size can be matched to the joint rather than over- or under-specifying a single universal size for every job.
Key Features
- Reinforced pressed rib across the corner adds rigidity beyond a flat angle bracket, helping resist flex and rotational movement under load
- Galvanised in DX51D + Z275 coating for long-term corrosion resistance in outdoor and exposed conditions
- Connection strength CE marked under a European Technical Assessment on four sizes, with rated figures from 19.6 kN to 35.2 kN depending on size; the 150×150×65mm size is CE marked under a separate European Technical Assessment
- Fire reaction class A1 (non-combustible)
- 2.5mm steel thickness throughout the range, for genuine structural load-bearing use rather than a light-duty fixing bracket
- Suits timber-to-timber, timber-to-concrete and timber-to-steel 90° connections
- Five sizes available, from 70×70×55mm up to 150×150×65mm, so the bracket can be matched to the joint load
- Manufacturer's intended use is connections in load-bearing timber structures

Certified connection strength (European Technical Assessment)
| Size | Connection strength |
|---|---|
| 70×70×55mm | 19.6 kN |
| 90×50×55mm | 23.1 kN |
| 90×90×65mm | 27.2 kN |
| 105×105×90mm | 35.2 kN |
The 150×150×65mm size is CE marked under a separate European Technical Assessment. Its rated connection strength is not included in the table above; get in touch if you need its certification documentation.
The certified kN figures above are the tested connection strength for each bracket size under the ETA scheme, giving a known structural capacity to specify against rather than relying on an uncertified generic bracket - useful wherever the joint needs to demonstrate a particular rated strength, not just look the part.
Typical Applications
This is a structural bracket rather than a light trim fitting, and its certified strength range means it can be specified with confidence across a wide span of outdoor timber projects:
- Retaining walls and raised beds built from railway sleepers, where the angle bracket ties horizontal sleeper courses together at the corners and resists the outward load of retained soil
- Pergola and gazebo framing, connecting upright posts to horizontal beams at a structural 90° joint that needs to stay rigid under wind and roof loading
- Decking joist-to-beam connections, adding rigidity where the deck frame is under load and the pressed rib helps stop the joint working loose over time
- Fencing, including heavier post-and-rail or panel fence framing that needs a stronger corner connection than light-duty brackets provide
- General structural timber framing wherever a corrosion-resistant, load-rated 90° connection is needed between timber, concrete or steel
Because the range spans from the compact 70×70×55mm size up to the 150×150×65mm size, the smaller sizes suit lighter garden structures while the larger sizes are better matched to heavier framing such as substantial pergola posts or sleeper retaining walls carrying greater load - match the bracket size to the certified connection strength the joint needs to carry. As all sizes share the same DX51D + Z275 galvanised coating, the bracket suits permanently exposed outdoor locations, including ground-contact sleeper walls, weather-exposed decking frames and fence posts.
