4-Prong T-Nuts, Zinc Plated

4-prong T-nuts (tee nuts, also known as captive nuts, claw nuts or threaded inserts for wood) in white zinc plated carbon steel, for a strong, permanent and reusable metric thread in wood, plywood, MDF, particleboard and other wood-based panels. The four sharp prongs bite into the material as the nut is driven in and lock it against rotation, so the bolt can be tightened and undone again and again without the nut spinning in its hole. Each 4 pronged tee nut has a metric internal thread in its barrel and a flanged collar fitted with four sharp prongs. Installation Guidance

1. Choose the size whose barrel length suits the panel thickness, so the barrel stays inside the panel once fully seated.
2. Drill a pilot hole to match the barrel diameter in the table above, for a snug push fit.
3. Insert the barrel into the pilot hole.
4. On softwood, tap the flange home with a mallet for a quick, direct fit.
5. On hardwood or delicate panels, thread a bolt through from the reverse side and tighten it to draw the prongs in evenly, then back the bolt out once the flange sits flush.
6. Once fitted, the T-nut takes metric bolts, machine screws or furniture connector bolts in the matching thread size.

Which size do I need?
Match the thread to your bolt (M4, M5, M6 or M8), then choose a barrel length that suits the panel thickness: M4 and M5 T-nuts have an 8mm barrel, M6 T nuts 12mm or 15mm, and pronged T nuts M8 an 11mm barrel.

Will an M6 bolt fit?
Yes. Each M6 T-nut is a 6mm captive nut for standard M6 bolts, machine screws and furniture connector bolts, and these 6mm captive nuts come with a 12mm or 15mm barrel.

What size hole do I drill?
A hole matching the barrel diameter: 5.7mm for M4, 6.2mm for M5, 7.3mm for M6 and 9.1mm for M8.

Do I need special tools?
No. T-nuts fit by hand: tap them home with a mallet in softwood, or draw them in with a bolt in hardwood.
