Overview

Heavy duty galvanised steel angle corner brackets, 70 x 70 x 55mm with a 2.0mm material thickness, engineered for rigid, load-bearing right-angle connections between timber, timber-to-concrete and timber-to-steel structural elements. Manufactured from DX51D structural steel sheet and finished with a Z275 hot-dip galvanised zinc coating, these angle braces are protected against corrosion for reliable long-term use both indoors and outdoors.

The defining feature of this bracket is the pressed (embossed) profile running across the bend. Pressing a rib into the corner of the plate stiffens it in exactly the direction it is loaded, so the bracket resists bending significantly better than a flat angle cut from the same 2.0mm sheet would, which is how it achieves a rated load capacity of approximately 10.4kN (2,338 lbf) per bracket despite its compact size. Because the embossing runs only across the bend and not through the centre of the plate, the bracket is fully symmetrical front-to-back: it can be fitted facing inward or outward on a joint with no loss of strength or fit, giving installers flexibility on site rather than having to source "handed" left/right brackets.

Each bracket is punched with a dense pattern of ø5mm (0.2in) fixing holes plus two larger ø11mm (0.43in) bolt holes, laid out with Eurocode-informed spacing. This dual hole pattern means the same bracket suits quick, standard nail or screw fixing for everyday timber joints, and heavier-duty through-bolted or anchored connections where the design calls for it, one component covering both ends of the fixing spectrum.

Key Features

  • 2.0mm DX51D structural steel construction, engineered for rigid, load-bearing right-angle joints
  • Z275 hot-dip galvanised zinc coating protects against corrosion for reliable long-term use both indoors and outdoors, including exposed timber structures
  • Pressed (embossed) rib across the bend increases resistance to bending compared with a flat angle of the same thickness
  • Rated load capacity of approximately 10.4kN (2,338 lbf) per bracket
  • Symmetrical, non-handed design: no embossing through the centre of the plate means the bracket fits equally well facing inward or outward
  • Dual hole pattern: a dense array of ø5mm (0.2in) fixing holes for nails or screws, plus two ø11mm (0.43in) bolt holes for through-bolted or anchored connections
  • Eurocode-informed hole spacing suits both standard proprietary fixings and individually engineered connections
  • Compact 70 x 70 x 55mm footprint at approximately 109g (3.8oz) per bracket, easy to handle and fit in tight framing bays

Typical Applications

  • Structural timber framing: squaring and reinforcing stud, noggin and general timber-to-timber right-angle joints
  • Roof trusses and rafters: tying rafters down to wall plates or reinforcing truss-to-timber connections where a rigid corner is needed
  • Deck and pergola construction: joining deck joists to bearers or posts, and securing pergola beam-to-post corners, using the ø11mm holes with through-bolts where the higher-load fixing is appropriate
  • Joist and beam connections: bracing right-angle joints in floor, ceiling and general framing assemblies
  • Fence panel and gate framing: reinforcing the corner joints of timber fence panels and gate frames against racking
  • Shed and outbuilding assembly: corner bracing for timber-framed sheds, workshops and outbuildings, indoors or outdoors thanks to the galvanised coating
  • Timber-to-concrete and timber-to-steel connections: using the two ø11mm bolt holes with expansion anchors, chemical (glued-in) anchors or M10 through-bolts where timber framing meets a masonry or steel structure
  • General carpentry and furniture-making: anywhere a rigid, load-bearing right-angle joint is required

Installation Guidance

Position the bracket square to the joint before fixing; because the plate is symmetrical, it can be orientated facing inward or outward to suit the joint without affecting strength. For general timber-to-timber work, secure through the ø5mm holes using ring-shank anchor nails (approx. ø4mm) or wood screws (ø6–10mm). For higher-load connections, or where the joint is timber-to-concrete or timber-to-steel, use the two larger ø11mm holes with M10 through-bolts, expansion anchors or chemical (glued-in) anchors instead of, or in addition to, the nailed/screwed fixings. In all cases, fix through every hole intended for that connection; the 10.4kN rated load capacity applies to the bracket fully fixed, not to a partially fixed joint, so leaving holes empty will reduce the achievable load below the rated figure.
