Heavy Duty L-Shaped Square Hook Screws with Wall Plugs

Heavy duty L-shaped screw hooks supplied as a complete, load-matched pair with their own expansion wall plug, purpose-made for hanging loads from masonry, brick or concrete. Each hook is a steel screw-in hook finished in durable zinc plating, suited to both indoor and outdoor fixing points. Rather than buying hooks and wall plugs separately and having to guess which sizes go together, every hook in this range is sold pre-paired with the correct plug for its size - so the fixing arrives correctly sized straight out of the packet, with no separate trip to match up a compatible plug.

The wall plug itself is a split expansion design. As the L-hook is screwed into the plug, its shank forces the plug's split sides outward against the walls of the drilled hole, wedging the plug firmly in place - the more accurately the hole is drilled to the plug's diameter, the more secure the resulting grip. This style of fixing is designed for solid masonry - brick, block or concrete.

The range covers four matched size pairs, running from a lighter-duty 6mm plug up to a heavier-duty 12mm plug for bigger loads. Because the pairing is fixed at each size, the fixing can simply be chosen to suit the item being hung and the wall it's going into, without having to cross-reference a separate plug size chart.

Key Features

• Steel L-shaped hook with a zinc plated finish for corrosion resistance, suited to indoor and outdoor use
• Each hook supplied complete with its own matching expansion wall plug, so there's no separate plug-buying or size-guessing needed
• Split expansion plug design: the plug's split sides wedge outward against the drilled hole as the hook is screwed in, giving a secure hold once fitted to a correctly sized hole
• Designed specifically for solid masonry fixings into brick, block or concrete
• Four matched size pairs available, from a light-duty 6 x 30mm pairing up to a heavy-duty 12 x 60mm pairing for larger loads
• Open L-shaped hook profile makes it quick to hang and unhang items without disturbing the fixing itself
• Straightforward hand or screwdriver installation - no specialist fixing tools required beyond a drill and a matching masonry bit

Specification

The table below lists the plug diameter and length for each of the four matched pairs; the L-hook supplied with each is sized to fit its own plug, so the size chosen below is the only measurement needed to order the correct hook and plug together.

Typical Applications

These L-hook and plug sets suit any solid masonry wall where a straightforward hanging point is needed. Because they're sold in a spread of sizes from light-duty to heavy-duty, they cover everything from a single light hook indoors to a heavier-duty fixing outdoors. Typical uses include:

• Hanging garden tools such as spades, forks and rakes on a shed, garage or outbuilding wall
• Wall-mounting bikes to keep them up off the floor and out of the way in a garage or shed
• Hanging ladders horizontally against a garage or outbuilding wall for compact storage
• Coiling and hanging hosepipes off the ground to keep them tidy and out from underfoot
• General-purpose storage hooks in garages, sheds and workshops, for anything from coiled cable and rope to buckets and bags of loose hardware
• Fixing points on exterior brick or block walls, such as patios and outbuildings, thanks to the zinc plated finish's outdoor suitability

Because each hook is pre-matched to its own plug, the smaller 6mm and 8mm pairings suit lighter items, while the 10mm and 12mm pairings give a stronger fixing for bulkier or heavier loads.

Installation Guidance

1. Choose the hook and plug size to match the weight of the item being hung, and mark the fixing point on the wall.
2. Drill a hole into the masonry matching the wall plug's diameter, drilling to at least the plug's length in depth so the plug can be inserted fully.
3. Clear all dust and debris out of the hole - blowing it out or vacuuming it - so the plug can seat fully against solid masonry rather than loose dust.
4. Insert the wall plug into the hole until it sits flush with the wall surface.
5. Screw the L-hook into the plug by hand or with a screwdriver until snug - stop once firm resistance is felt, as over-tightening can strip the plug's grip, particularly in softer masonry.
