Wall Plugs & Anchors
Heavy Duty Nylon Wall Plug & Hex Coach Screw Fixing Kit
20% off applied
Overview
A complete, matched fixing kit pairing a heavy-duty expansion wall plug with a DIN 571 hexagon head coach screw, sized so the screw diameter falls within the wall plug manufacturer's own recommended range for that plug size – removing the guesswork of buying and matching the two parts separately. Each kit is supplied as a set: one wall plug and one coach screw per fixing.
The wall plug body is made from polypropylene (PP). Anti-rotation ribs along the body stop the plug spinning in the hole as the screw is driven home, while expansion fins at the neck bite into the substrate as the screw seats, driving full, even expansion along the fixing for maximum pull-out resistance. The coach screw is manufactured to DIN 571, with a coarse wood-screw thread conforming to DIN 7998, and a hexagon head that's tightened with a spanner or socket rather than a screwdriver – allowing far higher installation torque than a screwdriver-driven fixing, and letting the fixing be checked or re-tightened later with the same tool. The screw is finished in bright zinc-plated (BZP) steel for general-purpose corrosion resistance.
Rated for use in solid, dense masonry substrates including concrete, solid brick, natural stone and solid block work, with load capacity that rises through the size range, for non-structural fixings such as shelf brackets.
Key Features
- Complete matched kit – one wall plug and one DIN 571 hex head coach screw per fixing, with screw diameter selected to fall within the plug manufacturer's own recommended range for that plug size
- Wall plug body made from polypropylene (PP)
- Anti-rotation ribs and expansion fin geometry on the wall plug drive full, even expansion along the fixing as the screw is tightened, for maximum pull-out resistance
- Coach screw manufactured to DIN 571 with a hexagon head, tightened by spanner or socket for far higher torque than a screwdriver-driven fixing
- Coach screw's coarse wood-screw thread conforms to DIN 7998, finished in bright zinc-plated (BZP) steel for general-purpose corrosion resistance
- Rated for solid, dense substrates: concrete, solid brick, natural stone and solid block work
- Available in three matched sizes (10×50mm, 12×60mm and 14×70mm plug with paired coach screw) and pack quantities of 1, 2, 10 or 20 kits
- Saves sourcing and matching a wall plug and coach screw separately – each kit is pre-paired to a manufacturer-verified diameter combination
Specification
| Kit size | Wall plug (D / L) | Min. fixing depth | Coach screw | Screw head (spanner size) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10×50mm | 10.0mm (0.39in) / 50mm (1.97in) | 60mm (2.36in) | M6 × 60mm, DIN 571 | 10mm (0.39in) |
| 12×60mm | 12.0mm (0.47in) / 60mm (2.36in) | 70mm (2.76in) | M8 × 80mm, DIN 571 | 13mm (0.51in) |
| 14×70mm | 14.0mm (0.55in) / 70mm (2.76in) | 80mm (3.15in) | M10 × 80mm, DIN 571 | 17mm (0.67in) |
Coach screw diameter in each kit is selected at the lower end of the wall plug manufacturer's recommended screw diameter range for that plug size.
Typical Applications
- Heavy shelving and shelf brackets in kitchens, garages, workshops and utility rooms
- General construction, renovation and refurbishment work into concrete, solid brick, block work and natural stone
- Any job where sourcing a correctly matched wall plug and coach screw as a single kit saves time over buying and pairing them separately
Installation Guidance
- Drill a hole to match the wall plug diameter exactly (plug size = drill bit size), to at least the minimum fixing depth shown in the specification table above
- Clear all dust and debris from the hole with a vacuum or blow-out pump – essential for full plug expansion, since compacted dust prevents the fins seating fully against the substrate
- Insert the wall plug into the hole flush with the surface
- Drive the supplied coach screw home with the spanner or socket size shown in the table above, so the wall plug's fins expand fully against the substrate as the screw seats
- Fit a washer under the screw head where practical, to spread the load and protect the surface being fixed
