Overview

Forged lifting eye nuts manufactured to DIN 582, with a threaded bore and an integral lifting ring (eye) forged as a single piece rather than cast in two parts or welded together, for reliable, consistent load-bearing strength. Because the eye and the threaded body come from the same forging, there is no separate joint that could work loose or fail under repeated use, and every size carries a manufacturer-rated working load limit (WLL).

The body is bright zinc-plated (BZP) steel, giving a durable, corrosion-resistant finish suitable for indoor use and general outdoor projects. Eight sizes are available, from M6 up to M20, so the eye nut can be matched closely to the stud, threaded rod or bolt already in place, rather than over- or under-specifying the fixing. Whether it's a small enclosure that needs a single lifting point or a heavy steel fabrication that needs a rated anchor, there is a size in the range to suit.

Key Features

  • Forged in one piece – the eye and threaded body are a single forging, not a cast or welded assembly, for reliable, consistent strength with no separate joint to fail
  • Manufactured to DIN 582, the recognised standard for lifting eye nuts
  • Individually rated – every size carries its own manufacturer working load limit (WLL), from 90kg (198lb) on the M6 up to 1200kg (2646lb) on the M20
  • Bright zinc-plated (BZP) steel body for a durable, corrosion-resistant finish suited to indoor use and general outdoor projects
  • Threaded bore accepts a matching stud, threaded rod or bolt, so the eye nut can be fitted wherever a threaded lifting point is needed rather than only on a dedicated eye bolt
  • Flat collar seats firmly against the mounting surface once wound down, keeping the eye correctly aligned under load
  • Full published dimensions for each size – eye bore diameter, eye outer diameter, overall height and width across flats – so fit and clearance can be checked before ordering
  • Eight sizes covering M6 to M20, from light-duty electrical and switch cabinet work up to heavier structural steelwork

Specification

The table below gives the eye bore diameter, eye outer diameter, overall height and width across flats for each thread size, together with its individual rated working load, so the correct size can be checked against both the fixing it is threaded onto and the load being lifted.

Installation Guidance

Match the eye nut to the diameter of the stud, threaded rod or bolt being used, and wind it down fully until the flat collar sits firmly against the mounting surface – this keeps the eye correctly aligned and stops it working loose under load. Make sure the full thread engages before any load is applied, as partial thread engagement significantly reduces the effective strength of the fixing, and always check that the mating thread and the surrounding material are of equal or greater strength than the eye nut itself.

Inspect the eye nut for wear, deformation, corrosion or thread damage before every use, and discard it if any is found rather than continuing to use a compromised fixing.

Typical Applications

As a threaded, forged lifting point with an individually rated WLL, these eye nuts suit any job where equipment needs to be lifted safely by a bolted or studded connection rather than a fixed eye bolt. Typical uses include:

  • Creating secure, removable lifting points on machinery, engines and other plant during installation, relocation or maintenance work
  • Fitting to switch cabinets and control enclosures so they can be lifted and positioned safely
  • Attaching to structural steelwork and fabrications on site or in the workshop wherever a bolted or studded lifting point is needed
  • Rigging and tensioning systems, where a threaded anchor point is needed to take up or secure a line
  • Terminating wire rope, chain slings and other lifting assemblies with a threaded connection that can be removed once the lift is complete
  • General workshop and construction site use, wherever corrosion-resistant BZP hardware is appropriate

Because the eye nut threads onto an existing stud or rod rather than requiring a dedicated bolt to be fitted, it also suits situations where a lifting point is only needed temporarily – it can be removed once the lift is complete, leaving the original fixing free for its normal use.
