• Mark both fixing points at the same height before drilling, using a spirit level across the full 800mm span so the finished shelf hangs level rather than tilted.
• Wall construction determines which fixing to use: standard screws and wall plugs are suited to solid masonry walls, while stud and plasterboard walls need suitable cavity or toggle fixings capable of carrying the load instead.
• The safe load capacity of the finished installation is set by the fixing method and the wall it is fixed into, not by the shelf or brackets alone – always choose fixings rated for your wall type and never exceed the safe working load of the fixings you have used.
• Fix into solid material – a stud, noggin or solid masonry – wherever possible at both fixing points, for the most secure and durable result.
