Overview

Self-drilling countersunk screws in bright zinc plated (BZP) steel for fixing sheet metal, wood and plastics without pre-drilling. Each screw has a self-drilling point and a tapered thread design that facilitates easy penetration of materials and ensures a strong, reliable hold, so it cuts its own hole and fixes in one continuous drive. Thirteen sizes, from 3.5mm x 13mm up to 4.2mm x 75mm, cover thin sheet and PVC through to timber and plasterboard (drywall).

How It Works
A small fluted tip acts like a drill bit for the first few millimetres, clearing a hole ahead of the thread; the thread then takes over and pulls the screw fully home. This two-stage action, drill first, thread second, happens in a single continuous drive, without swapping between a separate drill bit and a driver bit, which makes it faster and more consistent for fixing into thin sheet steel, box section and similar materials. It eliminates the need for pre-drilling holes, speeding up the installation process. The countersunk head is designed to sit flush with the material surface once fully driven, giving a neat, snag-free finish rather than a proud head that catches on clothing or other components.

Bright Zinc Plated (BZP) Steel
The bright zinc plating gives a clean, bright appearance and good general corrosion resistance. Made from materials that offer exceptional strength and resistance to wear, the screws are compatible with standard fastening tools for quick and efficient use.

Key Features

  • Self-drilling fluted point cuts its own hole on contact, eliminating the need for pre-drilling and speeding up installation
  • Tapered thread design facilitates easy penetration of materials and ensures a strong, reliable hold
  • Countersunk head sits flush with the surface once fully driven, for a neat, snag-free finish
  • BZP (bright zinc plated) finish gives a clean, bright appearance and good general corrosion resistance
  • Phillips (PH) drive, compatible with standard fastening tools for quick and efficient use
  • Thirteen sizes in three diameters, 3.5mm, 3.9mm and 4.2mm, from 13mm up to 75mm long, to meet specific application needs
  • Sizes 3.5mm x 32mm, 38mm, 42mm, 50mm and 55mm and 4.2mm x 65mm and 75mm are drill-point drywall screws with a bugle head, for fixing plasterboard

Specification

  • Material: Steel · Finish: BZP (bright zinc plated)
  • Head: Countersunk (sits flush once driven); drywall sizes: bugle head · Point: Self-drilling · Drive: Phillips (PH)
  • Diameters: 3.5mm, 3.9mm, 4.2mm · Lengths: 13mm to 75mm
  • Pack sizes: 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 or 500 screws

The size range covers three diameters, each paired with the lengths available for it: 3.5mm diameter runs from 13mm up to 55mm in nine steps, 3.9mm diameter is available in 25mm and 32mm lengths, and 4.2mm diameter covers the two longest sizes, 65mm and 75mm. Between them, the range spans short fixings for thin sheet material and light-section metal through to longer fixings for thicker timber or built-up sections, so the same self-drilling design can be specified across a whole job rather than switching to a different fixing part-way through. All thirteen sizes are listed in full below.

Typical Applications

Because the self-drilling point removes the need for a separate pilot hole, this screw suits jobs where speed, consistency and working across more than one material type all matter:

  • Fixing thin sheet metal, steel box section, metal structures and pre-formed brackets, where the self-drilling point lets you fix straight through without a separate pilot hole and without the material splitting or the thread wandering off-line
  • Timber battens, general framing and carpentry, where the countersunk head can be driven flush for a tidy finish and the self-drilling action still starts cleanly in softer material
  • PVC fascia, soffit and cladding installation, where a flush countersunk head and a consistent, controlled drive help give a neat exterior finish without cracking the plastic
  • Fixing plasterboard (drywall) with the drill-point drywall sizes: 3.5mm x 32mm, 38mm, 42mm, 50mm and 55mm and 4.2mm x 65mm and 75mm
  • Furniture, construction, industry and automotive work, for mounting sheet metal, metal structures and many other applications
  • General construction and DIY fixing tasks that move between wood, metal and PVC on the same job, without needing to swap tools or drill bits for a separate pre-drilling step each time the material changes
  • Repetitive or time-pressured fixing jobs, where the self-drilling point folds the pilot-hole step into the drive itself, saving time while keeping a clean, split-free fix

Common Questions

Do I need to drill a pilot hole?
No. The self-drilling point eliminates the need for pre-drilling holes, speeding up the installation process.

Which size do I need?
Thirteen sizes are available in three diameters: 3.5mm (13mm to 55mm long), 3.9mm (25mm and 32mm) and 4.2mm (65mm and 75mm), offered in a range of sizes to meet specific application needs. For plasterboard, choose the drywall sizes: 3.5mm x 32mm, 38mm, 42mm, 50mm or 55mm, or 4.2mm x 65mm or 75mm.

Which bit do I need?
A Phillips (PH) bit. The screws are compatible with standard fastening tools for quick and efficient use.

What pack sizes are available?
Every size comes in packs of 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 or 500 screws.
