Overview
Countersunk Torx wood screws in yellow zinc-plated steel, for carpentry, joinery, furniture and timber construction. A sharp point starts the screw on contact, the deep, coarse thread cuts its own path as it drives, and ribs under the head seat it flush with the timber surface. On the 5.0mm and 6.0mm sizes, cutting notches on the thread mean less torque and faster assembly. Ten sizes from 3.5 x 25mm to 6.0 x 200mm, in packs of 5 to 400. For timber fixings in dry conditions.
How It Works
The sharp tip pierces the timber and helps prevent splitting, while the deep, coarse thread cuts its own path through the material as it drives, for strong pull-out resistance. On the 5.0mm and 6.0mm sizes, cutting notches on the thread cut through the wood fibres, so the screw needs less torque: faster assembly, less effort and less strain on your cordless drill or impact driver; close to the head, a reaming section clears shavings and widens the hole. The ribs under the countersunk head prepare the surface so the head finishes flush with the timber, without pre-countersinking by hand. The star-shaped Torx (TX) recess gives a deep, positive engagement with the bit for stable driving, and a secure grip if a screw ever needs backing out for adjustment.
Key Features
- Sharp, self-piercing point starts the screw quickly and helps prevent the timber splitting near an edge
- Deep, coarse thread cuts its own path for strong pull-out resistance; on the 5.0mm and 6.0mm sizes, cutting notches on the thread mean less torque and faster assembly
- Ribs under the countersunk head seat it flush with the timber surface for a clean finish
- Torx (TX) drive for deep, positive bit engagement, reducing cam-out, stripped recesses and bit wear compared with a Pozi or Phillips cross-head
- Yellow zinc-plated steel body: the zinc coating gives useful corrosion resistance
- Wide size range from 3.5 x 25mm (6g x 1in) up to 6.0 x 200mm (14g x 7 7/8in), covering light fixing through to heavier timber work

Typical Applications
Ten sizes and one consistent design suit jobs on site or in the workshop, from small joinery fittings with the shorter screws to heavier timber fixing with the longer sizes, for example:
- General carpentry and joinery in softwood, hardwood and manufactured boards
- Furniture assembly, where the flush-seating countersunk head leaves a clean finished surface
- Fixing finishing layers, boards and linings to walls and timber frames
- Flooring and sheet material fixing into MDF, chipboard and plywood
- Timber-frame and structural timber connections with the 5.0mm and 6.0mm sizes, made to EN 14592
- Multi-purpose fixing jobs where a large number of screws need to be driven quickly and cleanly
Installation Guidance
Follow each step in order:
- Fit a Torx bit that matches the screw (TX25 for the 5.0mm sizes, TX30 for the 6.0mm size) and keep it in good condition: a snug bit drives cleanly.
- On hardwoods, or close to the edge of a board, drill a small pilot hole first; on softwoods and boards such as MDF, chipboard and plywood the sharp point normally starts the screw without one.
- Keep the driver square to the surface throughout the drive so the countersunk head seats evenly.
- Drive until the ribs under the head pull it flush with the surrounding timber.
Common Questions
Do I need to pre-drill?
Not usually in softwood and boards: the sharp point starts the screw on its own. On hardwood or near the edge of a board, a small pilot hole makes driving easier.
Do I need to countersink the hole?
No. The ribs under the head prepare the surface as the screw seats, so the head finishes flush with the timber.
Which bit do I need?
A Torx (TX) bit: TX25 for the 5.0mm sizes and TX30 for the 6.0mm size.
Can I use them for structural timber work?
Yes, the 5.0mm and 6.0mm sizes are CE marked and made to EN 14592 for structural timber connections.
Do you have long screws for wood?
Yes. These long screws for wood are 100mm countersunk wood screws (5x100mm wood screws), 120mm wood screws (5.0 x 120mm) and the 6.0 x 200mm size, all Torx screws with the same countersunk head. The 120mm Torx wood screws, like the other 5.0mm sizes, take a TX25 bit.
What pack sizes are available?
Every size comes in packs of 5, 20, 100, 200 or 400 screws.
